Book Reviews & Essays
For me, being a writer means entering the company of other writers, past and present, for the sake of readers and writers of the future. Virginia Woolf wrote in A Room of One’s Own, "a woman writing thinks back through her mothers.” Doing so requires knowing those who gave birth to our writing, as well as our sisters in the present generation. I believe writing requires more than simple self-expression. We must first listen - to other writers and to ourselves - then learn to make judgments. We can set a course, aiming for more than women have yet achieved. My essays and reviews represent my effort to listen, appreciate the achievements of others, and situate myself on a writer’s landscape.
I welcome your recommendations of books for me to review!
